Terms and conditions for ordering products from the University Almanac Office (Helsingin yliopiston Kalenteripalvelut Oy)

These Terms and Conditions are valid from 22 September 2025 and may change without prior notice. We recommend checking the Terms and Conditions before placing each order.

1. General

These Terms and Conditions apply to digital products purchased through the online store or customer service of the University of Helsinki Almanac Office (Helsingin yliopiston Kalenteripalvelut Oy). Digital products refer here to electronic files, for example files with the extensions idml, pdf, docx, or xlsx.

2. Delivery

Digital products are delivered electronically immediately after the order has been confirmed. You will receive an order confirmation to the email address you provided with your order. After the confirmation, you will receive an email containing a link through which the digital product can be downloaded. The product must be downloaded within seven (7) days of the order. The order confirmation serves as the receipt for your purchase.

3. Cancellation and returns

Due to the nature of digital products, it is not possible to cancel an order or return a product once it has been downloaded or delivered.

4. Copyright

All digital products and their contents are protected by copyright. Calendar templates include a pre-set copyright notice, which must remain visible in the finished product. Other products using the name day list must include the text: "Nimipäivät © University of Helsinki".

Purchasing a digital product does not transfer ownership of its contents or copyrights. The purchaser may not sell or transfer the purchased data or calendar templates to third parties. Use is restricted to products published by the purchaser themselves.

If the digital products include AstroClassic or AstroModern fonts needed for moon or flag symbols, these will be delivered together with the downloadable materials. The purchaser is granted the right to use the fonts in connection with these materials, but the fonts may not be used for other purposes or distributed to third parties.

5. Editing the Calendar Templates

Ready-made calendar templates are delivered in PDF and IDML formats. InDesign IDML files can be edited, for example by changing fonts or colors, or by adding illustrations to the calendar pages. After editing, the calendar template must be checked against the original PDF file. The University of Helsinki Almanac Office is not responsible for any errors in the final products if the materials purchased from the online store have been modified.

6. Print run and sample calendars

The print run of the calendar is confirmed when all calendars have been printed. The purchaser must report to the University of Helsinki Almanac Office all calendars they have produced or commissioned, including the print runs and name day data. If the same purchaser produces or commissions several calendars for the same calendar year, we request that all print run information be confirmed at the same time.

The University of Helsinki Almanac Office has the right, at its own expense, to arrange an audit of the number of calendars produced or commissioned by the purchaser by an Authorized Public Accountant (KHT) of its choice, no more than once per calendar year. The audit report is intended solely for calculating copyright fees, and the University of Helsinki Almanac Office may not disclose it in any part to third parties or use it for any other purpose.

For each completed calendar with a print run of 200 copies or more, a sample copy must be sent to the University of Helsinki Almanac Office along with the electronic print run report. Sample copies can also be sent by post. If several calendars are produced for the same calendar year, we kindly request that they are all sent at once.

7. Data protection

The University Almanac Office collects and processes personal data for the purpose of processing your order. For more information, please refer to our Privacy and Data Protection Policy.

8. Limitation of Liability

The University Almanac Office is not liable for any damages resulting from the use or inability to use the digital product.

The University Almanac Office is not responsible for any errors in the final products in the event that materials purchased have been modified.
