Yliopiston almanakka – University Almanac


yoalmThe most important publication by the Almanac Office is the traditional Yliopiston almanakka (University Almanac). It was issued the first time in Finnish in 1705. Prior to 1996, its name was simply Almanakka (Almanac).

Today, the almanac is published in Finnish (Yliopiston almanakka) and Swedish (Universitetsalmanackan). The small pocket almanac is put out in both languages and the A4 version in Finnish. Its publisher is currently Otava Publishing Company Ltd.

In addition to the calendar section, Yliopiston almanakka contains a great deal of astronomical information, weather tables as well as information on e.g. the most popular given names in Finland.
