The website of the University Almanac Office got a new look

The website of the University Almanac Office will be renewed over the course of 2023. The new site has been designed for customers who order calendar materials as well as for anyone interested in calendar-related topics. Easy purchases will also become available in our online shop in the near future.

“We aimed for a website with a modern look, where users can easily and quickly find the information and materials they need,” says Project Manager Christine Stukaloff, who is in charge of the digitalisation project and business development of Helsingin yliopiston Kalenteripalvelut Oy (“University of Helsinki Calendar Services Ltd”).

“Our previous website redesign took place ten years ago, so it was time for bigger changes now. The reform will give us a versatile and user-friendly website with a greater offer of changing topical information,” says Minna Saarelma-Paukkala, Director of the University Almanac Office.

The reform will be implemented gradually. Pages with the key materials in Finnish will be published in May. During the summer, various archive materials will be added to the site, including calendar-related blog posts, old almanacs and other publications, as well as documents related to name day updates, for example. The Swedish and English pages will also be published in the summer.

Calendar materials easily available from the online shop

During the summer, an online shop will also be opened on the University Almanac Office’s website. The products on sale will include the University Almanac Office’s most popular products, including name day lists, calendar day lists, moon phases and a wide selection of ready-made calendar templates.

“The advantage of the online shop is that ready-made calendar materials can be purchased at any time of the day, and the customer gets immediate access to them,” says Christine Stukaloff. The shop accepts various payment methods, and the product information is up to date. A description of every available calendar template product will be available in the online shop. In the future, registered customers can indicate the number of copies of their calendars through their account. When logged in, customers can also view their previous purchases.

“We hope our customers find their way to this easy option for online purchases. However, customers who wish to order tailored calendars and other rarer products should contact the University Almanac Office’s customer service as they have in the past,” says Minna Saarelma-Paukkala.

The reform has been carried out in cooperation with Lemonsoft Oyj and Oy Buorre Ab, and it will be implemented on the WordPress platform.
